Section 508 and accessibility

Our Accessibility Conformance Report is published rather than sent on request, so it can be attached to a market research file or a determination without waiting on us.

The report uses VPAT 2.5 INT and covers WCAG 2.2 Level A and AA, Revised Section 508 (36 CFR Part 1194), and EN 301 549. It is a self-assessment, which is what the template is designed for, and it is written to be accurate rather than flattering. Criteria we have not yet evaluated say so instead of claiming support.

The expensive part of accessibility for a video platform is captions and transcripts, and every lecture in the catalog already has both, in English, German, Spanish and Portuguese. Caption size and position are adjustable in the player.

If you find a barrier, or need course content in an alternative format, email sales@talkpython.fm. Reported barriers are prioritized ahead of the roadmap in the report.

How to place an order

The price is the same on all three routes. Published volume pricing is on the team licensing page.

Purchase order

Send the PO to sales and we invoice against it. Billing is direct from PDX Web Properties, LLC, which makes this the route that federal terms modifications can apply to.

Invoice

Tell us the courses and the seat count and we issue an invoice. Also billed directly by PDX Web Properties, LLC. Payment by ACH, wire or check.

Government purchase card

Buy on the site with a card. Fastest route and it needs nothing from us, but note the merchant of record below, which matters if your terms review is looking at who the seller is.

Merchant of record

Card purchases made through our online checkout are processed by Paddle.com Market Limited as merchant of record. Paddle is the seller on that transaction and Paddle's terms govern it. Purchase order and invoice orders are sold and billed directly by PDX Web Properties, LLC, with no third party in the contract. If your agency requires the supplier to be the seller of record, use a purchase order or an invoice.

Purchase thresholds

Restated here because the figures moved recently and stale numbers are still circulating.

Below the micro-purchase threshold, a cardholder with delegated authority can buy without a solicitation, without competition requirements, and generally without a contracting officer. A team license for a course or a bundle usually lands well below it.

Our licenses are perpetual, so an order is a one-time purchase against one fiscal year with no renewal, no subscription rolling into the next appropriation, and nothing that lapses if you do not buy again. That removes the annual-funding question before it comes up.

Thresholds are set in FAR 2.101 and are adjusted for inflation periodically. Verified against acquisition.gov on 11 August 2026. Confirm the current figure and your own delegated authority before relying on it.

Micro-purchase threshold $15,000
Simplified acquisition threshold $350,000

Contract terms

Several clauses that appear in almost every commercial terms of service cannot lawfully be accepted by a federal agency. We know which ones and we are prepared to address them.

The recurring blockers are customer indemnification, which would obligate funds in advance of appropriations contrary to the Anti-Deficiency Act; state choice of law and venue, against which federal contracts run under federal law and the Contract Disputes Act; binding arbitration, unavailable without specific statutory authority; automatic renewal; unilateral changes to terms; late fees and interest, which the Prompt Payment Act governs instead; and state sales tax pass-through, from which the federal government is exempt.

Automatic renewal is not an issue here at all. There is nothing to renew. Course licenses are perpetual, there is no subscription, and no charge recurs.

For the rest, our U.S. Federal Government Amendment deletes or supersedes each of them for federal orders. It applies automatically to purchase order and invoice orders, with no signature and nothing to negotiate, so your terms review has one document to read rather than a commercial agreement to reconcile clause by clause.

If it does not cover something your acquisition requires, contact sales@talkpython.fm before your review rather than after. We would rather resolve it once at the front than have a review stall on a clause we were never going to enforce against an agency.

Document

Seventeen enumerated modifications, each tied to the statute that makes the commercial provision unenforceable. Applies automatically to purchase order and invoice orders. It modifies our Terms of Service, which otherwise remain in effect.

Delivery, data and hosting

Delivery model
Hosted web platform, plus optional free iOS and Android apps. Nothing is installed on agency equipment and no access to agency networks or systems is required.
Data we hold on students
Name, email address and course progress. That is the entire list. Students may register with personal email addresses. Records are deleted on request.
Content classification
All course material is public commercial training content. The platform neither requests nor accepts agency data, controlled unclassified information, or any information subject to export control.
Access administration
Seats are distributed as access codes, redeemed one per student. The team lead gets a dashboard showing redemptions, per-student progress and completion, exportable as CSV.
License term
Perpetual. No renewal date, no seat audit, and no license that lapses. Unredeemed access codes stay valid indefinitely.
Accessibility
Captions and full transcripts on every lecture in four languages, with adjustable caption size and position. Conformance detail is in the VPAT.

What we do not hold

Stated plainly so nobody spends a week finding out.

FedRAMP authorization
None. FedRAMP applies where a service stores federal information, and this platform holds only a student name, an email address and progress against public training content. If your agency requires an authorized service regardless, we are not a fit today.
GSA Schedule (MAS contract)
None. Purchases are open market. If you must buy through a schedule, a reseller holding one can carry us, and we will support that.
CMMC certification
None, and not applicable. No controlled unclassified information is handled.
Third-party accessibility audit
The published VPAT is a self-assessment, which is what the ITI template is designed for. An independent audit has not been commissioned. If one is required for your acquisition, tell us before you evaluate.

State, local and education buyers

Everything above applies, and the process is usually shorter. Purchase orders and invoices work the same way, the W-9 is the same document, and the accessibility report covers Section 508 conformance for state agencies whose procurement rules mirror the federal ones. Only the federal contract clause discussion is specific to federal buyers.

School districts and universities buying for a cohort should note the seat model: access codes are redeemed one per student whenever that student joins, with no window they have to be used inside, which fits an academic calendar better than a dated subscription.

Anything not answered here

Email sales@talkpython.fm. You will get a person rather than a queue, and if the answer is no you will get that too.
